Life in board shorts: Home is just a road trip away

Happy 2019! We woke up and grabbed breakfast in the hotel lobby, dreading the drive back to North Carolina. We were planning to stop in Savannah, so that was something to look forward to. That and South of the Border. Yeah, not so much, that’s more of an iconic milestone that we’re almost home. It was a fun road trip home, which were sure you can relate to in some capacity.

Life in board shorts: Final tide change in Cocoa Beach

Today was our last day in Cocoa Beach before heading to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl. We had to pack everything up, but before hitting the road for two hours, we wanted to milk our time in the warm sun in Cocoa Beach. There was surf, a final visit to Ron Jon’s, and some lunch at the Tiny Turtle. Once we arrived Jacksonville, we checked into our hotel and went to the beach where things were chilly and foggy. It was another amazing day in Florida.

Spring Break 2015: Rincon, Puerto Rico Day 5

rincon_pr_day5_IMG_5069It was our last day in Puerto Rico for Spring Break. We had a completely different second half planned to go snowboarding and we were off to Denver later in the day. But first, we had to soak in as much sun as possible before heading to the airport. We enjoyed our remaining time on the beaches near our condo. Continue reading

Another beautiful day in Rincon was on tap. An early morning surf session with some of the leftover swell was a great way to start the day. Then the family was all geared up for a morning sail on the Katarina and some snorkeling in the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve. This was day four of our Spring Break and our last full day on the island of Puerto Rico. Continue reading

Spring Break 2015: Rincon, Puerto Rico Day 3

rincon_pr_day2_IMG_5008It was another good day of surf in Rincon, leftovers from the big swell were still coming in. Spring Break was in full effect and I was up early and in the water before 7:30 am. The rest of the day had more in store for us, including a trip to the Rincon Beer Company. Continue reading

Spring Break 2015: Rincon, Puerto Rico Day 2

rincon_pr_day1_IMG_4969It was our first full day in Rincon, Puerto Rico after spending most of Friday traveling. The first order of business after cooking breakfast at the condo was to acquire a surfboard. Little did we know that the surf was cranking, but we’ll get to that in a moment. Continue reading

Spring Break 2015: Rincon, Puerto Rico Day 1

rincon_sunetSpring Break was so close we could taste it. Our travels would bring us to the warm waters and surf of the Caribbean in Rincon, Puerto Rico then to the mountain tops of the Rockies for snow boarding and skiing. But we had to get there first. And that meant leaving early from a light rain in Raleigh, NC to a better state of mind. Continue reading
