South Mountain
October 4-6, 2002. Fall is starting and the leaves are just starting to change. Merri Beth and I were invited to go to Morganton, NC with Jesse Chapman. His grandfather has a cabin in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains outside of Pisgah National Forest. We made the 3.5 hour drive to Morganton from Raleigh and were greeted by Jesse's grandmother Mary Alice. She prepared a wonderful home-cooked, country meal complete with fresh garden vegetables, corn bread, and banana pudding to name a few items. The meal was a feast to us and we were very thankful. After our late lunch, started our adventures to Linville Falls, South Mountain State Park, and Table Rock while staying at Jesse's Grandfathers secluded cabin.
